Leave a Bequest

If you are passionate about strengthening, caring and resilient communities and want to support the individuals, families and groups who face financial hardship, social isolation and personal challenges, then leaving a gift in your will is a wonderful way to ensure that we can continue to provide essential support services to those who seek our help.

We recommend speaking with your solicitor who will be able to guide you through the process of leaving a legacy. There are a number of ways you can specify the amount you wish to give, for example:

  • A percentage of your estate value or residue

  • The residue of your estate after taking care of all your other beneficiaries (e.g. family and friends)

  • Proceeds from the sale of specific assets (e.g. real estate, shares, jewellery)

  • A fixed amount

Is there a minimum amount that I can leave to The Spiers Centre? – No. What you decide to give is completely up to you, every little bit makes a difference!

Can I specify how my gift will be used? Of course. You can decide whether you would like your gift to support our financial counselling, emergency relief or community services. If you would like to talk to someone about the options available please give us a call on 08 94012699.

Do I have to tell you that I am including The Spiers Centre in my will? No, writing a will is a very personal matter. However, if you are comfortable letting us know please do. We would love to say thank you and keep you informed of our work by inviting you along to functions such as our AGM and open days.

Do I have to be a certain age to write a will? You must be 18 years or over to write a valid will under Section 7 of the Wills Act of WA.  If you are under 18 and would like to support our work please see our Donate section for other ways you can show your support.

I would like to include The Spiers Centre in my will, what do I have to do?  We recommend that you consider any friends, family and charities that you would like to include in your will and then discuss your wishes with your loved ones. While it is not essential to seek legal advice, we would strongly encourage you to speak with a solicitor or legal representative who will be able to help you write or update your will using the correct wording.  To leave a gift to The Spiers Centre you will need to use our full name ‘The Spiers Centre Inc.’, address ‘2 Albatross Court, Heathridge, WA 6027’ and ABN ‘60 848 523 312’.
